Dr. Bryer’s orientation is cognitive-behavioral which means that she focuses on finding concrete strategies for helping kids think/behave differently to feel better and make healthy choices in their lives. She emphasizes short-term goals and regularly discusses treatment objectives with parents/caregivers to ensure that progress is being made. During the first session, Dr. Bryer will meet with the parents/caregivers to develop a full understanding of the concerns about the child and to develop a strategy for tackling the problem. When parent-child relations are particularly tense, Dr. Bryer may sit down with parents and kids together to diffuse the conflict. Dr. Bryer specializes in treating middle and high school age children who are struggling with the following problems:
